Custom Bike Bag Sampling: What to Check Before Production

A sample helps answer questions that a drawing cannot. Does the bag sit correctly on the frame? Can the rider reach the opening? Do the straps stay clear of cables and moving parts?
For a new bike bag, rain cover or passenger cushion, agree on these checks before the first sample is made. That gives each review a clear purpose and helps avoid repeated changes.

Agree the Brief Before Sampling

Send the bike model, drawings or reference photos, key dimensions and mounting details. Include the intended load, weather exposure, target quantity and budget.
Discuss fabric, components, colours and branding at this stage too. If the first sample will use substitute materials, ask what is different and which features cannot yet be approved.
Also confirm the sample fee, what revisions it covers and whether any amount can be credited against a production order.

Review the Sample in Three Stages

These are review stages, not a requirement to make three separate samples. A familiar design may need fewer rounds; a new mounting system or major design change may need more.

1. Fit and Function

Install the sample on the intended bicycle, rack or cargo box. Check attachment positions, strap lengths, opening access and clearance around other parts.
For rain covers, review overlap, drainage and water entry around seams and openings. For cushions, check their position, attachments and any backrest interface.
Record what works and what needs changing. If a key dimension or mounting position is wrong, resolve it before approving the design.

2. Materials and Revisions

Check that agreed corrections have been made. Confirm the fabric, coating, lining, foam where applicable, hardware models, colours and branding.
Review stitching, reinforcement and any seam treatment against the specification. A change to fabric stiffness or thickness can affect fit, so check the revised product on the bike again where needed.
Keep unresolved items on the review list rather than assuming they will be corrected during bulk production.

3. Production Approval

Before production, confirm which sample and specification represent the product you are ordering.
Check the final materials, dimensions, construction, components, labels and packaging. List any remaining differences in writing and agree how they will be resolved before production approval.
Where a pre-production sample is required, agree its scope and timing with the factory. Keep an approved reference sample with each side where practical, using matching version labels.

Give Feedback the Factory Can Act On

Use one numbered list for each review. For every change, include a photo, the exact location, a measurement where relevant and the condition in which the issue appeared.
For example:
“Move the rear strap attachment 15 mm forward so it clears the rack crossbar. See photo 3, taken with the bag installed.”
That is easier to act on than “the strap is in the wrong place.” Ask the factory to confirm each change and identify any effect on cost, materials or timing.

Allow Time for Review and Delivery

Yagoobag samples typically take 7–12 days after the specification is agreed, depending on the design and material availability. Revision timing should be confirmed from the actual changes required.
Allow additional time for courier delivery, installation checks and feedback. Bulk production typically takes 45–55 days after final sample approval and deposit, subject to the agreed order schedule.
For repeat orders, confirm whether materials, components, dimensions or the intended bike have changed before deciding whether another sample is needed.
